As the holiday season approaches, many families at Angeline are once again settling in for a beloved tradition of watching Christmas movies. From the heartwarming classics to the movies that make the whole family laugh, many Christmas movies are an essential part of holiday celebrations and bring joy to the spirit of giving.
Journalism teacher, Ms. Ashley Swain, enjoys watching Christmas and holiday movies with her family, sometimes a little too much. Swain had a hard time choosing a favorite holiday movie, because she loves so many.
“’The Santa Clause’ is probably my favorite overall,” Swain said. “I think that Tim Allen is funny in his role and the movie overall was a unique idea; the movie has everything it needs to cement it as a holiday classic.”
One of Adia Tolentino’s (7) favorite parts about the holiday season is watching Christmas movies and her favorite movie is “Elf” because it makes her laugh every time she watches it.
“My favorite part of the movie is when he made breakfast for his family, and it was spaghetti with a bunch of candy; I thought that was so funny,” Tolentino said.
Ciera Simpson (7) loves the original “Home Alone”, another classic from the 90s.
“It is very funny, and I feel like it can happen to big families, and people can relate to it,” Simpson said.
Lily Lehman (8) enjoys watching the animated version of “The Grinch” with her family because it showcases the value of family.
“I like the animated ‘Grinch’ because I really like the dog, and I think it just really highlights the importance of family, and even though he was alone he at least had someone with him,” Lehman said.
Maddy Vargas (7) loves the strong storyline in a more recent Christmas movie series, “The Christmas Chronicles” which released on Netflix in 2018.
“I love the ‘Christmas Chronicle’ series because my family has seen it every year since it came out,” Vargas explained. “I like how the journey with Santa turns the teenager into a believer.”
